The Role:

Job Summary:

 

Requirements of the role centre around mentoring and coaching learners who are placed with a variety of work placement providers nationwide in how to install/maintain/remove temporary traffic management works in line with industry legislation, and any safe system of work supplied by their company.

The role will involve visiting apprentices at their work place to ensure they are progressing well, and provide on the job training provision to aid their development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning mandatory incremental reviews and mentoring visits at least 1 month in advance for all apprentices under your control
  • Carrying out reviews, and mentoring visits for all apprentices under your control
  • Providing a monthly report of all mentoring and reviews carried out to the Training Centre Manager
  • Providing a monthly schedule for the following month’s up-coming reviews and mentoring visits to the Training Centre Manager
  • Recording all mentoring visits on the correct company paperwork
  • Recording all mandatory incremental reviews in the apprenticeship handbook & copying to each apprentices personnel file
  • Performing a training needs analysis at regular intervals for each apprentice under your control
  • Adjusting the individual learning plans for each apprentice where required so that they are clear about what has been completed and what there is left to do during the term of their training program
  • Identifying those with additional learning needs and ensuring they get the required level of support to enable a successful outcome at the end of their apprenticeship
  • Providing start times to apprentices daily where required
  • Providing support to the HR department booking holidays, recording lateness, unauthorised absence, sickness, and disciplinary issues for all apprentices under your control
  • Assist in keeping the classrooms, kitchen area, and company vehicles clean and tidy
  • Attend additional training courses to further your own development as instructed and keep an up to date CPD log
  • Any other duties commensurate with the salary for this role

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

The following qualifications & experience are required as a minimum to perform this role;

  • At least 8 years’ experience within the temporary traffic management industry
  • Very good level of Maths and English
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • excellent team-working skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, and able to use PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook etc….
  • 12D M1-M2-M3-M5 qualified operative
  • 12D M6 qualified RLTMO
  • 12AB Qualified Operative
  • 12A Foreman or LTMO
  • Full UK driving licence

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

The following qualifications & experience are desirable (not essential);

  • 12D M7
  • TSCO
  • 12C Operative
  • 12C Supervisor
  • Driving Goods Vehicles NVQ assessor
  • At least 5 years’ experience within the traffic management industry in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Assessing / mentoring / teaching experience or qualifications

FURTHER TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT PACKAGE

The successful candidate shall be subject to a 26 week probation period, and after successful completion of this they shall be put through the following training programs to further develop their skills & aid progression within the business…

  • An Instructional Techniques, or Teaching qualification recognised by Lantra Awards
  • A NVQ assessor qualification or recognised equivalent
  • 12D M1 – M5 assessor
  • 12D M1 – M5 instructor
  • 12D M6 & M7 Instructor
  • 12AB assessor
  • 12AB instructor
  • Driving Goods Vehicles NVQ assessor
